You can either start to make a survey from scratch, or use one of 20+ ready-made survey examples created by our research experts. All the templates are editable in the builder.

To start with a blank page, click the Create New Form button on your dashboard and select Create Blank Form at the next step.

3

Set Up Your Survey Questions

Open the Form Elements menu on the left side. Here you can add the fields you need for your form: Full Name, Email, Phone Number, as well as your survey questions. Usually, surveys include closed-ended and open-ended questions.

Closed-ended questions are the ones where users have a limited amount of options. For example, “Have you ever been to Morocco?” or “Do you like sushi?”. Such questions can be answered by a simple “yes” or “no.” To add closed-ended questions to your survey, drag the Multiple Choice or Dropdown fields to the working area.

Open-ended questions require users to manually type their answer in the corresponding field. For example, questions like “What is your opinion on global warming?” or “How do you feel about the new iPhone model?” require more than a one-word answer. To include open-ended questions in your questionnaire, use the Short Text or Long Text fields.

In addition to these classic options, AidaForm offers many specialized field types:

  • For surveys with pictures, use the Picture Choice field. Beautiful images will entertain respondents and increase the chances that the survey will be completed.
  • To collect feedback, add interactive Scale, Rating and Slider elements. Use Matrix for more complex evaluation questionnaires.
  • To be innovative, try our unique Media Answer feature. Collect Audio and Video messages from your audience.
  • The Signature field and special checkboxes will help you to comply with all regulations and obtain consent for data processing.

Explore all the features of the Form Elements section – each field is customizable to your requirements.

4

Adjust the Survey Design

Once you’ve added the necessary fields and questions, open the Form Designer to adjust the colors of your survey. You can choose one of the pre-made themes or customize it by clicking on the gear icon.

Further settings that are available in the designer menu:

  • Turn icons next to survey questions on or off.
  • Specify the size and type of the form font.
  • Choose the size and shape of the buttons, and how you want to mark the required and optional survey fields.
5

Publish Your Survey

When the design is ready, it’s time to publish your form. Open the Publish tab and generate a direct link to your survey – you can send it through email to your customers or publish it in your social media communities. Use the Embed on a web page function if you want to generate the code and place it on your website.

No matter which option you choose, you won’t need to use any third-party services to collect responses – you can view the survey results at any time in your member’s area. Moreover, you’ll get notified every time someone submits the form.

Now you know how to create a survey with AidaForm. Do not hesitate to start today and launch your first awesome questionnaire!

Tips and Tricks: What Makes a Good Survey

1

Make sure you have clear objectives of the survey.

Always keep in mind what you want to discover and what you want the respondents to do after completing the survey.

2

Define your target audience.

To get more applicable data, target your survey to specific groups of users.

3

Write in plain language.

Use short sentences that are easy to read and understand. Avoid ambiguous phrases, technical terms, and jargon.

4

Avoid leading questions.

Stay neutral in your questions. If you push the respondents to give the “correct” answer, it will negate the results of your survey.

5

Encourage people to complete the questionnaire.

To get more responses, motivate users to participate. One way is just to be nice and polite. Another way is to offer a small gift or a discount as a reward for completing the survey.

6

Pre-test your survey.

Before publishing your questionnaire, send it to your colleagues or friends first. This may help you identify things you need to improve (for example, remove unnecessary questions, clarify some phrases, etc).
